Develop a proposal for a desirable, viable and feasible outpost on Mars. In the coming weeks, a detailed and well-documented proposition will evolve from comprehensive research, extensive brainstorming, prototyping and iteration. Using the Double Diamond methodology throughout the life cycle of the project, each group will develop a strategy that will take their project from preliminary discussions and thumbnail sketches through to the delivery of a detailed proposal and presentation, finished to a professional standard. This will include a compelling visual component and prototype models that demonstrate key aspects of the proposal.

the brief.

the approach.

Team Stellar utilised the Double Diamond to meticulously research, plan, develop and deliver the Martian Community Garden. Our group, consisting of Blanca, Grace, Jess, Nicole and Pengyu aimed to establish human life on Mars by addressing the social implications of living in an isolated environment far from Earth. Using this tried and tested design process, we created a solution to build a thriving social community in this context. Our Community Garden design features will be a hub for Martian citizens to grow together.

From here, we remain committed to developing a thriving social community through thoughtful design. We propose establishing user feedback channels to guide ongoing updates and maintenance for the garden. The Martian Community Garden serves as a centre for community, inclusivity and sustainability and will be a model for future settlements – on Mars and beyond.
